The gentle touch of craniosacral therapy supports the body in re-patterning the nervous system beyond unresolved stress and trauma and re-discovering the body’s natural state of wellness. This therapy uses light touch on the body while clients recline on a massage table, fully clothed. Participants often experience a greater sense of self-connection, clarity, renewal, and peace following a craniosacral session. Women and members of the gender-expansive community are invited to participate. Led by Amina Stevens

COMPASSIONATE COMMUNICATION with Amina Elizabeth Stevens
Offered by www.thewomensinitiative.org
This class is no longer being offered virtually. However, I have left the course description and a link if you want to learn more about this rich and much-needed work! For more information: www.thecompassioncourse.org
There is a need in the heart of every human being to give and receive Compassion. In doing so, we rediscover our natural state of being.
Drawn from the teachings of the late Marshall Rosenberg, Compassionate Communication is a way of being that supports ourselves in the art of listening with empathy and expressing ourselves with honesty and clarity.
According to Marshall Rosenberg, everything we do is an attempt to meet a need, and all criticism and conflict arise from unmet needs. The old model of expressing ourselves often includes using shame, blame, guilt, punishment, and judgment to meet our needs. What is needed is a little re-education so that we might communicate in a different way in order to meet ourselves and others in mutuality and with compassion.
This work enriches relationships with family, friends, and co-workers and can also support mediation in difficult situations and help to defuse violent confrontations.
GENTLE TRAUMA THERAPY
Private virtual sessions with Amina Elizabeth Stevens
and in-person sessions in Charlottesville, Virginia
All of us desire to feel safe and secure, to be valued and to live authentic lives that reflect our inherent goodness.
Fear, shock, emotional distress at birth, accidents and illness can create ‘imprints’ or ‘impressions’ in body memory by way of the sympathetic nervous system.
Ideally, the body will self-regulate, that is, come back into balance once the stressful situation has ended.
When trauma is not resolved, it continues to live in body memory. We may respond to life based on our past history, Fear, anxiety, fatigue and depression are symptoms that may be directly related to trauma.
With compassion and patience, it is possible to re-pattern the nervous system, supporting the body in rediscovering its natural state of health.
The compassionate nature of each session speaks to the heart of wholeness and is suitable for people of ages.
Clients often experience a greater sense of self-connection, clarity, renewal and peace.
Sessions are presently offered online with a sliding scale. For more information go to FAQ (frequently asked questions).
